Sync Color Note with your desktop computer. And of course a detailed guide

About how it all started (you can skip it):

ColorNote is a pretty good Android application for storing notes (and maybe one of the best, because it is quite ergonomic), but the developers seem to be deliberately ignoring the need to add a much-needed function for quickly and easily transferring the entire database of notes (I have more than 400 of them) ) on PC. By transfer, I mean creating and transferring to a computer via USB a single .txt/.doc/.csv file, in which all my notes will be located in the form of a table or list, by date, that is we're talking about about how to synchronize color notes with a computer. Instead, it is possible to synchronize with the cloud on the Internet (which is not what I want), or only periodically (not upon direct request), automatically save notes to backup files like "1258113358869-AUTO.doc", which, when opened in Word or Notepad++, produce random characters (not related to encodings, rather to encryption). Synchronization in ColorNote itself is not complicated, but my goal was to avoid online synchronization and save all my ~700 notes from colornote elavil online on my computer in a separate text file.

In the settings of the ColorNote application for my Android smartphone, I set the settings so that backups are periodically saved to the phone’s memory without a master password; no accounts are configured for online synchronization. Backup files can be freely copied to a computer via USB, or you can try to open them with some application directly from your smartphone (it’s pointless, of course, they are encrypted). That is, there is already a file with a bookmark database, albeit encrypted, but instead it is proposed to use online synchronization on some server. Perhaps the developers are pursuing some goal, who knows, but I was able to pull out all my notes with direct access to the database. So if you are interested in saving and transferring notes from Color Note directly to a file on your levaquin solution computer, bypassing online synchronization, then read below.

So, here's a rough outline of what you need to do to get your notes file in a readable format:

BUT, first, the essence of the method: you need to get the NOT encrypted database file with notes from a closed area of the application, which can only be accessed by Android devices with root access (you don’t have to “break” your phone). Then take notes from this database into a tabular or/and text file.

  • 1) Install ColorNote on an Android device with root access enabled (root rights). Owners of rooted smartphones and tablets should go straight to point “4)”.
  • 2) Open ColorNote on your smartphone/tablet and transfer the backup file with notes to your computer.
  • 4) Restore notes from a backup file (for example, taken from another smartphone without root).
  • 6) Now we need to get the “colornote.db” file (a database with notes in UNencrypted form) from ColorNote either from a rooted smartphone/tablet, or from our BlueStacks App Player emulator (root rights are provided by default, immediately after installation). This is exactly what root access is needed for.
  • 8) Now that you have the “colornote.db” file, you should open it in the free SQLite Database Browser program (or any other similar SQL editor) that opens databases. Download and install it.
  • 10) Save the table obtained in the search results under the query input field into a separate text and/or table file.

And of course a detailed guide:

1) Install ColorNote on an Android device with root access enabled. Owners of rooted smartphones and tablets should go straight to point “4)”.

If you don't have root rights , then download from the official website “freeware” a program for launching Android applications “ BlueStacks App Player" (BlueStacks TV) with the necessary root rights included.

We install with access to communications and the application store.

This is not an emulator that slows down wildly, it works quickly and intuitively. We launch it and look for ColorNote in the Play Store and install it in BlueStacks (at the same time logging into your Google account), just like on a regular Android smartphone.

Search in one word, otherwise the button will not work.

Auto-configuration will start associated with your Google account (needed to enter the Google-Play application store, nothing special)

Log in to your account, after which the setup will be completed.

A search result will be displayed where you will need to go to the ColorNote page.

After installation, the application appears here. Also install " Total Commander", it will be needed in the future.

2) Open ColorNote on your smartphone/tablet and transfer the backup file with notes to your computer.

Having entered the application from the original smartphone/tablet with notes, go to settings, disable online synchronization (if enabled). Below you can find out how to easily restore notes.

In the “Backup” item, there should be a checkmark next to “Auto backup”. We go to the “Backup” sub-item and see the saved backup copies. They are saved periodically and automatically, not at the direct direction of the user, so if “Auto-backup has just been activated, you should restart ColorNote and wait until the backup is created.

After making sure that a backup has been created, copy it to your computer via USB (these files are located in the internal memory or on the SD card at the address “/data/colornote/backup/”. You can also send it by mail or something else.

3) Now you need to do the reverse operation with the backup, only for the Android emulator on the computer, that is, restore the backup file in the ColorNote application in BlueStacks.

Let’s open the previously installed “Total Commander”. Having gone into the “SD card” we will see the “windows” folder at the very bottom of the list.

There is a folder inside "BstSharedFolder" - common to the operating environment (Android) of the emulator and Windows in which it operates. So we will use it to exchange files. In the screenshot below (clickable) you can see 2 paths to this folder. One, for Windows: "C:\ProgramData\BlueStacks\UserData\SharedFolder", another for Android: .

Use Total Commander to place a backup file with notes from a shared folder ( "/storage/sdcard/windows/BstSharedFolder/") to the desired folder for backups in ColorNote at: "/storage/sdcard/data/colornote/backup/". Copy/paste buttons in Total Commander at the bottom left. Screenshot below (clickable).

4) Restore notes from a backup file.

By analogy with point "2)" open the sub-item “Backup copies of notes” in the settings. You should pay attention to the bookmark counter on the right (screenshot below)

As a result, we see that the bookmarks have been restored. Check by scrolling to see if everything is there or if something is missing. If everything is in order, we move on.

5) Go to Google Play Market and install Total Commander from there (if there is a working alternative, you can use it).

There is no built-in file manager in the BlueStacks app player, so you need to install it.

6) Now we need to get the “colornote.db” file (a database with notes in UNencrypted form) from ColorNote either from a rooted smartphone/tablet or from our BlueStacks App Player emulator. This is exactly what root access is needed for.

After adding a backup file and restoring notes from it, ColorNote decrypts the original backup file and distributes its contents in its UNencrypted database (however, access to it in the absence of root rights, but in the emulator root access is provided by default, and nothing there is no need to do anything extra).

Next, about where notes are stored in Colornote for the Android platform, specifically the file. It is located either in the internal memory of the smartphone / on the SD card in a folder at approximately the address: "/data/data/com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note/databases/". The beginning of the address may vary slightly, so make sure the correct location exists by experimenting. Address in BlueStacks player desired folder exactly as indicated above, and the source media is named as “File system root” (Screenshot below - clickable)

7) Copy the file with notes “colornote.db” from a rooted smartphone, via USB to a computer or, for the option with the BlueStacks player, copy the same Total Commanderom file to the above-mentioned “special” shared folder “BstSharedFolder” at the address “/storage/sdcard /windows/BstSharedFolder/", which can be accessed both from the emulator and from Windows.

8) Now that you have the “colornote.db” file, you should open it in the free SQLite Database Browser program (or any other similar SQL editor) that opens databases. Download and install it.

The program is “freeware” from the official website, there is a “Portable” version for convenience.

Structure of the database file “colornote.db”. You can find the necessary notes this way, but there will be a lot of “garbage”, so let’s move on to the next stage.

9) Since we have a data base in front of us, we need to create and extract from it only the most necessary things, that is, a table with the “Date/Date” and “Notes” columns.

To do this, you need to make a query to the database to display only the necessary data. You should select the “Execute SQL” tab or the same “Execute SQL” depending on the selected language. Paste the following citalopram 40 mg tablet lines into the text field and run them for processing (in the screenshot below the button is indicated by an arrow):

SELECT date(created_date / 1000,’unixepoch’),date(modified_date / 1000,’unixepoch’),note
FROM notes ORDER BY _id

10) Save the table obtained in the search results under the query input field into a separate text and/or table file.

There is an option using the program to immediately export the table with notes to a .CSV file for further viewing, for example in Microsoft Office Excel, but this may not work due to problems with encoding and incorrect recognition of column separators, which will “break” the structure of the table and mix up all the notes into one mess (the button is marked in the screenshot above as “!NO”).

It turned out to be easier and faster to simply select the table with notes with the mouse and copy it using the “Ctrl + C” combination, and then paste it from the clipboard into a new empty Excel sheet (in the first cell). To remove characters like "####" simply increase the column width.

The method is quite tedious, but it works. If you have questions, write in the comments (they are not published, but the admin sees them, the answers will be under this sentence).

Everything is great, but I can’t export. there is an error in the sql request
Error in request; no such column: 'unixepoch' Unable to execute statement

figured it out
When copying from the site, the wrong quotes are inserted

Thank you! I had this: All settings were reset on the phone and “colornote” was deleted, but backup autosave files, such as “17082016AUTO.doc,” were saved. I just reinstalled the “colornote” editor on a clean smartphone and saved a couple of new notes. Then I found the data/colornote/backup/ folder and uploaded my old autosave files there. Then I went into the editor application, opened the backup in the settings, found my file “17082016AUTO.doc” and then restored everything that was there. Just like that.

Thank you, you helped me a lot!!

Good afternoon. Tell me why the colornote.db database is deployed only until 10/02/2016 (upload date 10/03/2016). those. 4572 records are uploaded starting from 2013 but according to “yesterday’s date”. However, in the emulator you can view notes from today (03.10.2016) and from November and December, and even for 2017. But they are all not uploaded after 10/02/2016.

>>Samodelin 10/03/2016 at 23:25:37
Apparently, notes are loaded into the main database at the end of the day on which they were created, and until then
Since then they lie somewhere on the surface - in an intermediate database, apparently a mechanism from the authors of the application.
It shouldn’t cause any difficulties, copy them manually or wait until “tomorrow”, you can still rearrange them
clock at 23:59 and wait a couple of minutes.

How to play ColorNote Notepad Notes on PC

Download and Install Nox App Player Android Emulator. Click here to download: Download(FREE)

Run Nox App Player Android Emulator and login Google Play Store

Open Google Play Store and search ColorNote Notepad Notes Download

Install ColorNote Notepad Notes and start it

Well done! Now you can play ColorNote Notepad Notes on PC, just like ColorNote Notepad Notes for PC version.

I synchronized a cool application for Android - Color Note with a desktop computer. I wrote about the wonderful features for which I use this particular application. For example, a wife at home/at work can adjust her shopping list, and her husband can see on his phone what needs to be bought in the store.

Unfortunately, Color Note is not present in the Chrome store, like Google Keep, for example, and therefore I had to use crutches. I tried to make the description as accessible as possible, so that for fans of this application everything would go quickly and without questions. It took me more than an hour to do everything, but I hope it will take you about 10 minutes maximum.

So, I divided the task into 4 stages:

  • Install the application downloader from the Play Market on your computer

  • Download the application to your Windows computer

  • Launch Color Note on your computer

  • Synchronize data

Attention! You will need to use account Your Android device and on your computer too, you can also use your Facebook profile or Email address. It's your choice. In my example, authorization for synchronization will occur using a Google profile. We will do everything without any rooting and as simply as possible.

Go!

I hope that ColorNote is already on your smartphone. Link to application page - .

Attention! Steps 1-4 may NOT WORK, so use the material "", where I described another, easier way to download Android applications to your computer. Further, starting from point 5, the material in the post has not lost its relevance.

1. Install the application downloader from Google Play Market on your computer. The Play Market does not have standard tools for downloading applications, so we’ll do this: launch the Chrome browser on the computer under your Google account, go to online store Chrome to the application page and install the extension. A Login tab has appeared in the browser (APK Downloader authorization).

2. Download the Device ID application to your smartphone/tablet (needed to authorize the APK Downloader). Launch Device ID.

3. Register. On the computer, in the fields of the previously opened “Login” tab, we copy all the data from the Device ID that is running on the smartphone. Click "Login".

4. In the “Options” tab that appears, select the version and type of device for which we will download applications. Choose the version that is installed on your mobile device. I tested KitKat 4.4.2 on Android, that's why I choose KitKat 4.4.

Save the settings.

5. Download the Color Note application to your computer using. Please note that thanks to installed application APK Downloader, a "Download APK" button has appeared. This skill can be used to create your own application archive. Let's press! Hurray, you have downloaded the Color Note application as a file com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note.apk! Amazing. Now we need to launch it.

6. How to run an Android application on a Windows computer? There are several developments, but I'll focus on BlueStacks. So, install the BlueStacks virtual machine. Installation is normal, just a little slow. For the purity of the experiment, I set everything up on Windows XP SP3, RAM - 2GB, so even on i3 everything will work without any questions.

BlueStacks launches automatically and opens the APK player. It can be closed.

7. Find the application file that we downloaded - com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note.apk and launch it.

8. The application is launched! Now go to the settings and enable authorization/synchronization to the same account as on the mobile application.

After entering your registration details, Color Note syncs and you see all the entries from your device. Now you can change data on any device and it will change on others. note that To change data on another device, you need to click "update". The update does not occur simply by changing the text, be careful.

That's probably all there is to it. I hope that the developers will complement the application in Windows environment, Linux using standard tools. Leave comments, if you liked it, share the link with your friends.

Upd: Found a replacement application Color Note, which synchronizes instantly with all imaginable devices and I’ll tell you about it in the post.
