What was he really like?
I read about his journey in the electronic version of the Foma magazine "SHORT SUMMER OF VALERY PRIEMYKHOV".
Valery Priyomykhov was a believer.
“Valery constantly thought about the meaning of life, about death, about birth,” recalls Archpriest Vladimir Volgin, rector of the Church of Sophia of the Wisdom of God in Sredniye Sadovniki in Moscow. “About those questions that every thinking person should answer. With this he turned to me. And I can say that 80 percent of my spiritual children (and almost all of my children belong to the intelligentsia layer) came to Christ precisely because of the logic of their thoughts and searches, so there is nothing exceptional here.”
Akin to my thoughts is that in such a profession as acting or any other public profession now, it is very difficult not to cross the slippery line of acting or creativity for the sake of money, to keep up with the times, so rebellious with their selfish laws, to be in constant conflict with their internal convictions - to come into conflict with oneself... To be in the shadow of your glory and remain yourself, without betraying yourself to remain in your public profession - this is sometimes almost impossible...
“If Valera had lived longer, he would have realized that saving the soul in our profession is almost impossible,” says actress Ekaterina Vasilyeva. - My thought is simple, and Valerina’s life is confirmation of it: a creative environment is harmful to the soul. If all is vanity of vanities, then here it is doubly, triply. It is not easy to live in the world, and the creative environment is a world within a world where dark forces are concentrated. Where there is luck, there is pride and vanity; where failure is despondency, despair. There is a lot of deceit. In the last year of his life, Valery Priemykhov worked on the script for the film “Vladimir the Red Sun” about the prince who baptized Rus'. In one of the last interviews, published after his death, Valery Mikhailovich talks about the difficulty of the task - not to drown the main thing in the “costume drama” - “the meeting of the man Vladimir and the God-man Christ.”
Unfortunately, Priyomykhov left a lot in his life in ellipsis... unfinished... his image too...
He was a man who was characterized by all, perhaps, human weaknesses...
Father Vladimir recalls that when Priemykhov became seriously ill, he “did not advertise his illness, tried not to talk about it at all. He sought healing not only from doctors, but from the Church. And when in the summer of 2000 the head of the holy great martyr and healer Panteleimon was brought to Moscow from the Greek Mount Athos, Valery really wanted to venerate the honest head. We arrived at the courtyard of the Pukhtitsa Monastery, there were a lot of people, but we went without a queue - it was hard for Valery to stand, he was very weak. After he venerated the venerable head of the great martyr and healer Panteleimon, the painful symptoms disappeared, and he happily told about it.”
He was diagnosed with brain cancer a year before his death. And a year before that, Priemykhov had severe headaches, but he was very busy, working on the film “Who If Not Us” and did not want to interrupt filming... But, having learned about the illness, Valery Mikhailovich fought for his life to the last. He was treated at the famous Oncology Center on Kashirskoye Shosse in Moscow, and underwent a serious and painful course of radiation therapy. The disease seemed to have subsided. “He died in three days,” recalls the widow. “He had a headache again, he was taken to intensive care, where he was able to survive only on medication... Father Vladimir arrived, confessed and gave communion to Valera... And the next day the next morning he died.”

“I never saw Valera in despondency, although I don’t think these feelings were unfamiliar to him,” the priest recalls. - Like any person, he experienced experiences, but tried not to show them, regardless of the severity of the grief he carried in his soul. He always went to the people with whom his life encountered him with an open soul. As the spiritual father of Valery Mikhailovich, I believe that he passed from this life to another and appeared before the Court of God as a prepared and mature man. I was not present at his death. But I heard from people who were close to him that she was quiet. This is a significant phenomenon for spiritual life. A line drawn under it. In my opinion, it was a Christian death."

But Defender of the Fatherland Day is a holiday for a mother who raised her son as a defender of honor and a patriot of her Motherland. On this day I cannot help but remember Zhenya Rodionov, the Russian border guard Evgeniy Rodionov, who was executed near Bamut, but did not renounce his Motherland and faith, and his Mother, Lyubov Vasilievna, who was born again through the feat of her son.

For many lovers of literature, they (these volumes) are close and years later they are still in demand, starting from school to this day. We know Chekhov as a subtle and psychological Master of the story, but no one has ever revealed Anton Pavlovich to us as a man in search of faith. This page of his life was sealed for us, and indeed for many of his contemporaries too. He did not advertise his beliefs; they were not displayed.
“You need to believe in God,” he wrote to Mirolyubov in December 1901, “and if there is no faith, then do not take its place with hype, but search, search alone, alone with your conscience.” The very thirst for faith, that is, the thirst for God, “spiritual thirst,” when it is strong in a person, is already the beginning of religious life.
Of course, each of us has our own personal path to God, but I dare to say that the path of modest and quiet, but deep doing of truth and goodness in the lives of others and in our own lives seems to me to be a real Christian path...

Exactly 68 years ago, on this day, Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union. In memory of this event, Russia today marks a day of remembrance and mourning.
Our grandfathers and great-grandfathers gave us a future that they sacredly believed would be “bright.” They remember this day with tears, on this day they remember those who were nearby and who are no longer there... Trouble always comes unexpectedly, the war came to every home, to every family and took with it brothers, sons, fathers... Which of them returned back home?!
My grandfather returned with a shrapnel in his cheek and a “splinter” of sad memories of hunger and battles in his heart. He lived only sixty years and died from his wounds. They, then. in 1945 they didn’t yet know that they were defending a country that would no longer exist... Now historians and others argue a lot about whether we needed such bloody victories, people died, thousands, millions, nations - and it was a game politicians?!
For them it was not a game; they rose to the heights shouting: “Hurray! For the Motherland! For Stalin!" and did not suspect that most of the country were enemies of the people, repressed, dying in prisons or on the battlefield in penal battalions as “cannon fodder.” They didn’t know this yet... They believed that this was a Holy War and they needed to protect their homeland from the attacking horde of enemies. How old were they?! Many volunteered before reaching adulthood... How many were there?!
They knew the taste and color of the concept of “patriotism” not from abstruse books, but in battle or in the rear...
We are their descendants!!! Sometimes you turn your gaze to the monuments of military glory and your hair stands on end, some “Lucy and Seryozha” left their memorable inscriptions here - “They were here.” On the walls of the Reichstag - it would be appropriate, but here?!
Not knowing what they are doing, young people join the skinhead movement. Not all. We, the current generation, must remember that in order for us to meet our springs and see off our winters, in order for us to run on the dew of the summer grass, our grandfathers and great-grandfathers shed blood...

Almost each of us sooner or later flies out of the family nest and takes away in his soul everything that his parents invested. One way or another, our upbringing undergoes many influences throughout life: the society in which we live, the environment in which we communicate, work... but there is something unshakable that remains with us for the rest of our lives...
