A mediocre media franchise that has gotten out of control.

So, having watched an impressive number of episodes of this creation, namely 143 episodes (as many as 2 cycles, I couldn’t get through any more, excuse me, my brain is not used to degrading for so long), I believe that this is more than enough to fully appreciate this product.

Why did such a mediocre creation become such a popular media franchise and, perhaps, one might even say, a cult series... Probably because the authors played on the feelings of people who sympathize with piracy and everything connected with it. To be honest, to me and myself this topic I like it, that’s why I started watching this anime, and I was also wildly interested in the fact that it is still being filmed, it has already exceeded 800 episodes. No anime series I know of has achieved such success.

What happened in the end: the authors of this “masterpiece” slipped a dud to sophisticated viewers, which, oddly enough, went down with a bang. Where to begin to describe this product. It’s probably worth starting with the most important thing: what meaning it carries. You're probably thinking now, well, it's like children's work, what meaning should it carry... You will be wrong, even the most childish and naive fairy tale should contain something instructive. The same cannot be said about One Piece. Of the 143 episodes, only about 20 make a little sense, mostly those episodes that refer to the characters' past. In the actual action of the series, what happens is nothing more than just an incredibly drawn out cliché about pirates. By the way, prolongation is perhaps one of the most serious problems series. What normal anime shows in 25 episodes (standard season) is stretched here to 100 episodes, most of screen time is spent on absolutely stupid, mediocre dialogues between characters, and no action. Here, even without me, “someone” smart said that “brevity is the sister of talent,” which proves the mediocrity of this wildly drawn-out work. Think several times before you start watching it, because if you are not prone to degradation and decomposition of the brain, then it will simply be unbearable for you to watch the same unchanging picture for long, long episodes.

As for the characters, everything is completely bad here. Of all the main and minor characters, perhaps only one deserves attention: Zoro. He has a truly interesting and instructive life, as well as worthy dreams and aspirations. The character is more or less adequate compared to all the other characters, although ruthless authors sometimes try to show him off a complete idiot. I only singled him out because all the other characters equally scary people(and not only people). In addition to the complete senselessness of their actions in most cases, they are also distinguished by bad character traits, for example, no matter how sweet and friendly their behavior may seem, deep down they still remain vile egoists, ready to deceive or abandon friends for the sake of money (as in in Nami's case), for the sake of girls (as in the case of Sanji) or just because (as in the case of Usopp). In general, a lot can be said about the main character of the film. But I will only say the most important thing: he is very stupid, his actions in every episode are unjustified and incredibly stupid, he never realizes what he is doing, and always creates nothing but problems for his team. Is this what a ship captain should look like? Is this what a leader should look like and, at a minimum, main character paintings that should serve as an example to all viewers? He dreams of becoming a pirate king, but most of the time his goal is just to fill his belly more, his only power is the power of the devil fruit, and nothing else. He wins all his victories only by brute force, without applying a single drop of intelligence, which he, in fact, does not have.

If we evaluate technical side product, then here, too, everything is far from perfect, and in general it does not even reach the average level. The art here is simply terrible, the authors only tried a little for the main characters. As for the other characters, everything here is generally bad, one is worse than the other. Even in the most scary fairy tales You won’t find such ugly characters in horror films as there are in this anime. Most often it is just a mockery of the eyes. And what costumes did the authors come up with for some of the characters? Fashion designers should definitely learn from them (no).

In many anime that I have watched before, the music really grabbed me. There are a lot of talented performers who write amazing music for TV series. Unfortunately, there are no such performers here. The music is not catchy in any way, even at crucial moments it does not evoke any emotions. Those few compositions written for One Piece will sound from episode to episode and will eventually become very boring.

Another point that I would like to highlight is complete absence attention to detail. Let me give you an example: in storyline about Chopper, the emphasis is on the fact that all people are afraid of him, consider him a monster and in every possible way distance themselves from him, which creates the effect of the viewer's sympathy for this character or simply a certain attitude. What happens after this storyline, the authors simply forget about this detail, now Chopper is an ordinary member of the pirate crew, nothing more. No one else will point out the fact that he is a monster, no one will be surprised when they see him, because this detail is simply forgotten. And this is just a single example, of which there are many in the series.

Anime is so unrealistic that even any fairy tale can envy it. For example, no matter how strong the enemy is, no matter what abilities or superiority he has, the main characters will still defeat him. Despite wounds incredible even for a fairy tale, not a single one positive character He won't die for anything, don't even hope. Let it explode next to him nuclear bomb with a damage radius of 5 km (this happened here), he will still survive. After a couple of dozen episodes, this already becomes something of a priori, and, as a result, it’s not interesting to watch any more anime, not to mention the lack of any empathy for the characters or a feeling of anxiety.

The result is this: the picture is absolutely devoid of any artistic value, it not only lacks meaning or any philosophy, but even the opposite: some absurdly meaningless moments create the impression that the authors are deliberately trying to convey to the viewer some obviously wrong view of life. This primarily concerns young viewers, who by nature tend to absorb a lot of information. At the beginning of each episode, it is worth displaying the inscription “this series is not recommended for anyone,” as they do in South Park.
