03/11/2019 Olympiad for graduate students
Dear final year undergraduate students! Don State Technical University and Oryol State University named after I.S. Turgenev, together with other flagship universities, are holding the “I am a Master” Olympiad for graduate students entering the Master’s program in 2019. The Olympiad is held in various areas of training. The first (qualifying) stage is carried out in absentia. You must register to participate in the qualifying stage of the Olympiad no later than March 24, 2019.

Attention! The location of the qualifying round is building No. 11 (Orel, Naugorskoe highway, 29). Registration on the day of the tour begins at 9:30. You must have with you: a passport (birth certificate), two fountain pens, a pencil, an eraser, a ruler. The Olympiad in the discipline "Natural Sciences" is included in the List of Olympiads for the 2018-2019 academic year, approved by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. Winners and medalists of the Olympiad receive significant advantages when entering universities. The origins of the idea of creating a higher educational institution in Orel first date back to the era of the First World War, when the intelligentsia of the provincial center, developing the initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of 1916, in January-March 1917 created a “commission for the establishment of a people’s university - a polytechnic.” In May of the same year, the issue of its creation was discussed by the Oryol City Commission on Public Education. The result of the work was a report submitted on September 7, 1918 to the Provincial Executive Committee, which contained the conclusion about the need to create a university in Orel with a set of classical faculties.
In 1927, groups for training engineers were created at the Mechanical Construction College in parallel with groups for training specialists with secondary education, and on August 5, 1931, by order of the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR, an industrial pedagogical institute was created in Orel, the grand opening of which took place on October 16 1931, consisting of four faculties (physics-technical, chemical-biological, socio-economic (literary-social, polytechnic). In 1932, the Workers' Faculty, the Evening Institute (until 1938) were opened at the OGPI. In January 1933 The Belgorod Pedagogical Institute is being merged with the OGPI.
On November 25, 2010, Oryol State Technical University was renamed into the State University - an educational, scientific and production complex, and in 2015 into Prioksky State University. In the same year, the Government of the Russian Federation decided to create a Basic University in the Oryol region, in pursuance of which in 2016 (April 1), the Oryol State University named after I. S. Turgenev was created on the basis of the Universities of the Basic University.
Oryol State University named after I. S. Turgenev is the first flagship university in Russia; The only multidisciplinary center in the region that provides continuous training of specialists at all levels in the field of pedagogical, engineering, medical, natural science and humanities education.
Today, the structure of the university consists of 3 branches (Karachevsky, Livensky and Mtsensky), 12 institutes and 13 faculties. These are 297 educational programs, taught by more than 940 doctors and candidates of science. Our university has approximately 19,000 students from 55 countries; More than 4,000 students graduate annually.
