Arzamas Polytechnic Institute- branch of the state educational institution of higher professional education "Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R. E. Alekseev", located in the city of Arzamas, Nizhny Novgorod region.

Story

The first classes within the walls of the Arzamas Polytechnic Institute began in September 1960 in the building of the former Forestry College, which was located at the address: st. Cooperative, 1.

But not only were classes held in a different building, the educational institution itself had a slightly different name: Educational and Consulting Center. At its core, it was a correspondence department of the Gorky Polytechnic Institute named after. A. A. Zhdanova.

On September 1, 1960, according to various sources, from 120 to 140 people sat down at their desks. Almost all of them were employees of the organization post office box No. 15, created in 1956 (currently it is OJSC Arzamas Instrument-Making Plant named after P. I. Plandin).

This is how the factory newspaper “Novator” wrote about the beginning of training sessions. “The new academic year was marked for us by the opening of the evening polytechnic institute... The head of the educational and consulting center, Z. Ya. Gurevich, made an opening speech. Candidate of Chemical Sciences N.I. Tyurin spoke on behalf of the teaching staff. He said that the opening of an evening institute in our city is the implementation of the decisions of the 21st Party Congress on the connection between school and life... The director of the organization, P. I. Plandin, addressed the audience” (“Innovator” No. 6 of September 8, 1960).

After reading the note, the question arises: what was it: “Training and consultation center” or, after all, “evening polytechnic institute”? The answer is clear - UKP or correspondence department of the GPI named after. A. A. Zhdanova. The second name could have appeared due to the fact that classes were conducted according to the evening system: “four times a week, four hours a day” (“Novator” No. 10(32) of March 8, 1961).

For the operational management and organization of the educational process, a head and a secretary were appointed to the Arzamas UKP, the material maintenance of which, as well as the provision of the educational process, was carried out at the expense of industrial enterprises of the city of Arzamas.

At the initial stage, the head of the educational establishment was Zusya Yankelevich Gurevich, who subsequently supervised the work of the Training Center, created during the organization of post office box No. 15 and uniting the correspondence department of the State Pedagogical Institute named after. A. A. Zhdanov, branch of the Gorky Aviation Technical School named after. P.I. Baranova, courses to prepare for entering college, School of Working Youth. Subsequently, the unit was headed by Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor Nikolai Ivanovich Tyurin and Vadim Ivanovich Igonichev.

Training sessions (lectures and laboratory) were conducted by full-time teachers of the State Pedagogical Institute named after. A. A. Zhdanov and hourly teachers from among experienced engineering and technical workers of local factories and organizations.

The training was conducted in specialties that were in demand at the factories of our city, and, above all, in the organization of post office box No. 15. These included: mechanical engineering technology, machines and metal forming technology, radio engineering and design and production technology of equipment. To better master theoretical material, laboratories of general chemistry, physics and a drawing room were equipped in the building of the former Forestry College. The basis for practical training for part-time students was the laboratories in the central laboratory of the organization, post office box No. 15.

Two years of active and fruitful work of the Arzamas and a number of other UKPs, as well as the great need for the developing industry of Arzamas for certified specialists, led to the fact that in 1962, at the level of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the RSFSR and the Gorky Economic Council, the question of organizing on the basis of all UKP GPI named after. A. A. Zhdanov of general technical faculties. The decision was made, and our institute entered a new stage of its life, in a new status...

Arzamas branch of Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University (AF NSTU) was created in 1968 on the basis of a previously existing consulting center and evening faculty of the Gorky Polytechnic Institute, initially as a branch of the Moscow Aviation Institute. Subsequently, the branch was again transferred to the Gorky Polytechnic Institute - now Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University.

The main task set when creating the branch was to provide engineering personnel for aircraft instrumentation, radio engineering and mechanical engineering specialties in the developing Volga-Vyatka region and, first of all, enterprises in Arzamas and the Gorky region.

N. E. Dyatlov was appointed the first director of the branch, Yu. K. Kolosov was appointed dean, and B. I. Leonov was appointed head of the academic department. From 1969 to 1998, the director of the branch was A. I. Menkov, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Professor, Member of the Academy of Social Sciences.

From 1998 to 2009, the branch was headed by V. P. Puchkov, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the International Academy of Informatization.

Since 2009, Director of API NSTU - Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor V. V. Glebov.

At first, 225 students studied in the evening department of the branch. The educational process was conducted by 20 teachers, three of whom were candidates of science.

Now at two faculties of the branch - "Informatics, electronics and instrumentation" And "Mechanical Engineering Technology", preparatory department, in Center for Educational Services More than 2,500 students and listeners study in full-time, evening and correspondence departments. The Arzamas branch graduates specialists in 4 specialties: “Aviation instruments and measuring and computing systems”, “Mechanical engineering technology”, “Design and technology of radio-electronic equipment”, “Economics and enterprise management (by industry)”. In 1998, a graduating department of applied mathematics was created and the first enrollment in specialty 010200 “Applied Mathematics” was carried out.

Until the recent past, the main consumers of engineering personnel were the largest enterprises of the city of Arzamas - Arzamas Instrument-Making Plant, Arzamas Machine-Building Plant, Legmash Plant, etc. Despite the changed conditions, graduates of the branch are now finding work at the enterprises of OJSC ANPP "TEMP-AVIA", AOOT APZ, RFNC, as well as in numerous subsidiaries and small structures that have emerged recently. Among them are general directors of enterprises, chief engineers, heads of workshops and departments. The Arzamas branch is also proud of famous public figures - graduates of our university. Among them are the former governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region I.P. Sklyarov and the head of the administration of the city of Arzamas, as well as the heads of the administrations of the Arzamas and Diveevo districts of our region.

Graduates of AF NSTU successfully work at enterprises not only in Arzamas, but also in Nizhny Novgorod, Ulyanovsk, Saransk, Sarov, Ufa, Simferopol and many other cities of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Russia and neighboring countries.

In addition to the main work of training students at the AF NSTU, work is underway on pre-university and post-graduate training. There are preparatory courses for those entering our university, daytime and evening preparatory departments. Teachers of the branch participate in the educational process of basic educational institutions of the city of Arzamas, with which agreements on mutual cooperation have been concluded - school-lyceum No. 13, Arzamas commercial and technical lyceum.

The departments of the branch are training more than 20 graduate students in full-time and part-time forms of study in four specialties. In 2000, 8 candidate dissertations were defended; in 2001, 7 more candidate dissertations and 1 doctoral dissertation were prepared for defense. Despite financial difficulties, graduate students actively participate in international and Russian scientific conferences. In 2001, two graduate students were awarded second degree diplomas at the III Conference of Young Scientists “Navigation and Traffic Control” (St. Petersburg). One graduate student is a scholarship holder of the President of the Russian Federation and four have been awarded scholarships from the Administration of the Nizhny Novgorod Region named after. acad. G. A. Razuvaeva.

The scientific work carried out at the AF NSTU consists of fundamental and applied research carried out within the framework of state budget research on the basis of basic funding from the State Education of the Russian Federation, the interuniversity scientific program "Conversion and High Technologies" in the section "Transport", a grant from the State Education of the Russian Federation "Theory of Automatic Control", grant from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research “Mathematical problems of control theory.” Three graduating departments have entered into economic agreements with city enterprises.

They were published in the proceedings of these and other numerous scientific events, as well as in leading international and Russian journals: “Zeitschrift fur Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik”, “Automation and Telemechanics”, “Izvestia of the Russian Academy of Sciences - Theory and Control Systems” and others.

Active cooperation is carried out with leading professional scientific societies: GAMM, SIAM, AMS, IEEE Control Systems Society, as a result of which the problems of exchange of scientific information, partial compensation of expenses for the acquisition of scientific literature and participation in scientific events are solved.

Library

The main purpose of the library is to provide information support for the process of education, upbringing, training and research activities at the institute through the development and widespread provision of library collections, information resources and library services using modern information technologies. Library

PROVIDES reference, bibliographic and information services for all categories of readers using traditional and electronic catalogs and reference funds.

PRESENTS the following services to readers:

• provides assistance in selecting literature on the topic of scientific research;
• clarifies the bibliographic data of the required publication and provides information about the availability of the publication in the library’s collections;
• informs about new literature arrivals
• carries out bibliographic references on orders from departments and divisions of the institute.

PROVIDES readers with printed works and other documents that are not in the library collection through the Interlibrary Loan. CONSULTS on issues of using a reference search engine and working with an electronic catalogue.

Story

The library is one of the most important departments of the institute. It provides the educational process and scientific research with literature and information, is a center for spiritual and intellectual communication, culture, dissemination of knowledge, provides library and information-bibliographic services for students, faculty, graduate students, employees, etc.

The API library of NSTU, the same age as the university, was created in 1968, the number of its collection was only about 7 thousand copies. Some of the books were given to us from the Gorky Polytechnic Institute, some of the books came from the library of the NTB MAI, whose employees selected the most suitable literature for us.

The first head of the library was Antonina Nikolaevna Shishkova, who was involved in the formation of the first library collection; in 1973 she was replaced by T. P. Barsukova. From 1982 to 2005, this position was held by I. I. Shmeilina. After that, she was replaced by N. V. Storozheva, under leadership of which the reading room moved to a larger room and was equipped with computers. Currently, the library is headed by L. N. Golysheva. Margarita Aleksandrovna Veselova, a professional librarian, has worked on the library staff since 1976. Nowadays, the library and reading room employs a knowledgeable, friendly and close-knit team of 7 people. M. A. Vyazenkova, N. A. Shabalina, S. V. Shishkova have been working as librarians for more than 20 years.

The area of ​​the library together with the reading room is about 245 sq.m. It is located on the 3rd floor of the NSTU API building. There is a book depository with an area of ​​27 sq.m.

Every year the library's collection is replenished with new literature, and outdated literature is written off.

The fund is currently 137733 copies. publications: educational, scientific, artistic, methodological and periodical, interuniversity collections

The library contains literature on all readable disciplines.

Since 1996, an electronic catalog of available literature has been maintained, which contains more than 10 thousand entries, and the electronic program AIBS MARS-SQL 1.14 is running.

Since 2004, the creation of a full-text electronic library began, the availability of which included more than 300 publications on the profile of the university: a GOST reference book, encyclopedias, textbooks on economics, law, philosophy, etc.

Subscriptions to periodicals are issued annually: about 101 titles of magazines and 16 titles of newspapers are subscribed.

Readers of our library are full-time, evening and correspondence students, graduate students, staff and teachers. Their number changes annually: in the present There are about 3,600 readers.

The dynamic development of the institute, the emergence of new specialties and faculties, an increase in student enrollment, and the emergence of paid forms of education are reflected in the work of library services. Over the past few years, there has been a steady upward trend in service and book issuance indicators.

The library has a permanent and regularly updated exhibition of new acquisitions, which visitors can view in the reading room

In the future, it is planned to expand the electronic library, install electronic educational and methodological complexes in the reading room, including lecture notes, methodological instructions for laboratory and practical work, assignments and samples of coursework and projects, and their methodological support.

Digital library

Since September 2006, the institute has opened an electronic library. Here, each user can receive additional, in-depth information on topics of interest for independent preparation of abstracts, coursework and dissertations, and writing a dissertation. The computer park of the electronic library consists of 10 computers. The electronic library collection includes more than 5 thousand copies of analogues of book and archival educational materials. All of them are available in the electronic library.

The electronic library has open access to:
