OPTION 4 OPTION 3 OGE-2015

Part 2

Read the text and complete the tasks 2 – 14.

(1) Olga herself understood this well and gave herself an honest account of it: her poems were not worth a kind word. (2) Raw and technically weak. (3) But this is what it is, a thing that bewitches and deprives a person of the ability to think - FLATTERY.

(4) Olga had a beloved friend. (5) Olga believed her infinitely. (6) She trusted all her heart secrets and... her brainchild - poetry. (7) Whenever all the latest news was discussed by her friends, Olga invariably uttered her cherished words: (8) “Len, I wrote a new poem.”

(9) “Yes?!” – Lenka perked up, fixing her eyes on Olga, lighting up with curiosity. – (10) “Read!”

(11) And Olga read. (12) She read in a timid, quiet voice, worried, like a student at a blackboard. (13) All the time while Olga was reading her next opus, Lenka did not take her admiring eyes off her and, when her friend finally fell silent, she unleashed a flurry of hot, enthusiastic emotions that caressed Olga’s naive soul.

(14) This went on for quite a long time. (15) Olga wrote. (16) Lenka admired. (17) And, although doubts about her “bright” talent did creep into her consciousness, Olga did not doubt Lena’s sincerity one bit.

(18) A kind, bright sun shone over their friendship, until one ordinary day a heavy, black cloud approached this sun:

(19) Olga, do you know how Lenka laughs everywhere at you and your ridiculous poems? – a compassionate friend once asked her a murderous question. - (20) Yes, that’s what she says: (21) “Holga’s ridiculous poems.” (22) Do you really write poetry?!

(23) This can’t be! – Olga muffled, completely ignoring her friend’s question, and almost ran away.

(24) Yes, Olga easily ran away from her quarrelsome acquaintance, but from herself?!... (25) “Is this really true? Could Lenka really do such a mean thing to me?!”(26) Olga forced herself to calm down, but not even five minutes passed before this boring question pierced her heart again: (27) “What to do, how to find out if this is all true?”

(28) By nature, Olga had a very gentle and peaceful character. (29) She understood perfectly well that she would never in her life find out the truth from her friend. (30) But she clearly understood that she would not be able to live in peace until she knew this truth. (31) The way out of the deadlock came, however, unexpectedly quickly: (32) “And I’ll read her a new verse! - suddenly, like lightning, flashed in Olga’s head, swollen from heavy thoughts. - (33) If this is true, she will definitely give herself away with her behavior.”

(34) And Olga wrote. (35) All that remains is to wait for the right opportunity to present it to Lenka. (36) Fortunately, the incident did not take long to happen.

(37) Len, I wrote a new poem.

(38) Yes, what are you talking about?! (39) So come on - read!

(40) Olya began to read in an even, calm voice:

(41) You listened to me. (42) You admired me.

(43) She sang my praises as best she could.

(44) Then she herself laughed at me...

(45) Olya saw confusion appear in Lena’s eyes. (46) And then unbearable shame and fear. (47) And Olga sat without changing her facial expression, and thought bitterly: (48) “Yes, that means it’s true... (49) So let your conscience judge you. (50) And I forgive.”

(51) Many years have passed since then. (52) Olya and Lena are wonderful friends. (53) And none of them ever in their lives remembered that “ridiculous” verse that so famously exposed their friend. (54) And at each of their meetings Olya says her cherished words: (55) “Len, I wrote a new poem.”

(56) Yes?! – Lena perks up. – (57) Read!

(58) And Olya is reading!

Text for presentation

Modern life, with its ever-increasing pace, forces people to communicate with more people. Surprisingly, the more such “fleeting” acquaintances we meet, the more difficult it is to find true friends among them. However, one thing is clear: we all feel a strong need for friendly communication, we still need close friendships just like food and water.

What should a true friend be like? A true friend will always be able to help you in difficult times, but he will never use you as a means to achieve his goals. A true friend will sincerely rejoice at your success, but he will not pretend to be happy and at the same time envy you in his heart. A friend will always find the right word of support, which people so often lack. You can always rely on a friend because he is honest with you.

You should not think that a friend should be an ideal person, devoid of any imperfections.prosperity No. A friend is also a person, but there are no ideal people. The main thing is to treat him with kindness and attention.
