DownThemAll extension! A list of useful add-ons and plugins for Mozilla Firefox that may be useful to you.

According to the developers, DownThemAll is the first and only download manager and accelerator for Firefox. I quote further:

"DownThemAll is everything you could want in a download manager: it has an advanced accelerator that increases download speeds up to 4x, allowing you to pause and resume interrupted downloads at any time.

DownThemAll is fast, reliable and easy to use! It allows you to download all links or images contained on web pages and much more: you can check your downloads according to fully customizable criteria to ensure you only get what you really want! Keep your downloads under constant control by being able to change the speed and number of simultaneous connections at any time. Use Metalinks or add mirrors manually to download a file simultaneously from different servers.

DownThemAll is open and freely distributed software. No Adware, Spyware or Hidden Costs."

Of course, in the last sentence, most likely, it’s not expenses, but bookmarks, but this machine translation costs.

Here are the user reviews:

1) Only the necessary functionality and nothing unnecessary. "Donvald Master" and similar free rocking programs are quietly and nervously smoking in the corner!
2) Great add-on! It works as intended and is good for managing downloads. It's a must-have for me.
3) It is the best!

Well, let's see. Go to the page or look in add-ons for Firefox. We install, try, look...

I am inclined to agree with the rave reviews rather than refute them.

And, in fact, the download process:

Until recently in the Firefox browser I was fine with everything until version 17. Next we changed download manager and had to look for an alternative. No.., not the browser, but the download manager. I just don’t understand, why the hell did they change it, because everything was so convenient. What now? Now, if you like to download a lot of files at once, especially if the server from which you download is rather weak and errors often occur, then downloading turns into a small part of hell. After all, now the downloads are not sorted in any way. If a file is not downloaded and an error occurs, then this error will be buried in a pile of other downloads and it can be quite difficult to find it, but you want to be sure that all files were downloaded 100%.

What is the way out of this situation? And the solution is quite simple. In order to make downloading files convenient and all that, there have long been various browser plugins. There are, of course, third-party solutions, just individual programs, which intercept downloads, etc. On the one hand, they are quite comfortable. For example, due to several threads, they can download quite quickly even from slow servers, or even from servers where restrictions are set. In general, there are certainly many advantages, but for me personally, such programs have one significant disadvantage. These programs must be started and stopped separately, or left constantly running, which consumes extra resources, etc., which is quite inconvenient. Everything is much easier with plugins, launched the browser, they started working, turned off the browser, they downloaded and turned off. Of course, a lot depends on the settings and our markers

Plugins, or rather download managers for the Firefox browser, it turns out not as much as we would like. No, in principle there are a lot of them and more, but as soon as you start checking, a bunch of shortcomings immediately appear. One’s downloads are constantly interrupted, another’s stupidly cannot download, the third’s own hangs and hangs up Firefox, etc. In general, I weeded out almost all download managers. The last of the Mohicans remained, as simple as a boot. Downloads Window plugin.

There is not much to say about it, it is really simple as a boot, it simply returns the old download manager that was available before version 17 of the Firefox browser. Well, it adds some pretty convenient settings. For example, in the settings you can check the box “Delete completed downloads”, which is very convenient, especially for those who like to download like me. After all, if there is an error, or the download is not complete, then the download will simply hang stupidly in the download manager. Well, as usual, you can just stupidly right-click on it and go to the download page. In this case, you will not have to look for the download in a pile of other downloads, since all completed downloads will be automatically deleted. In general, everything is quite simple and convenient.

But there are also a bunch of plugins. They are not particularly bad, there are small mistakes, but in principle you can put up with them, because they pump quite well.

Download Manager (S3)- Immediately about the jambs. After restarting the browser, it downloads the started files, does not download the rest, interrupts the downloads, but pretends to be downloading and ends up with broken files, etc. Besides, lately I've just gotten tired of advertising. Although there is a shutdown button, damn it, it constantly redirects to the plugin’s website, which is not good. Well, in principle, it’s a pretty good plugin for the Firefox browser. Quite convenient, there are a lot of small settings you can customize, down to color, etc. Perhaps some of the jambs have already been fixed.

There is just one minus, and a rather significant minus. The author of this download manager decided to adapt his plugin for portable versions of the Firefox browser. I personally asked him about this topic. Because a jamb was noticed, I reported this fact to the author. The author said that this..., damn it, I forgot the exact words, but in general he said that it was not his fault, but that the portable version of the browser itself was to blame, and that he had nothing to do with it, and that he would not fix problems that arise in portable versions of the browser . That's how you all went to hell. Well, since more and more people are now using portable versions... In general, let him think for himself and go through his markers. Maybe in the end he will find the right color

Download Manager download status bar. This is a prototype of a download manager (S3). More precisely, this is a plugin from a completely different author. But unfortunately, the author stopped supporting it, so at the moment this plugin is only suitable for older versions of the Firefox browser. Well, another author, whom I mentioned above, remade the “download status bar” into “S3” and continues to support it. In principle, he changed practically nothing there, he only added his own advertising... I mean “Externally”. So, if you are using an old version of the browser, it is better to use the original, the download manager “download status bar”.

DownThemAll- all the time jambs. It seems to be good and convenient and all that. But damn, there are always some kind of joints. But I only tested it on the portable version of the Firefox browser, so maybe everything will be fine on the standard one. And so, well, a very comfortable “vesch”. It automatically resumes downloads after errors, downloads in multiple threads, etc.

Downloads Context Menu- expands the capabilities of the built-in download manager. No jambs were noticed, everything is clear. It’s true that it doesn’t add a lot of features. It just adds items such as “Run”, “Pin to Start menu”, etc. to the context menu. In general, not for everyone.

Download Manager Tweak- pretty good, but the list of downloaded files does not show me, which is disgusting. But you can try, because it’s really not bad, maybe everything will be fine for you, because everyone has their own hardware, their own software, so what may not work for you me, can exist and work perfectly on your computers. And although it is quite simple, there are a lot of convenient settings. You can set the number of files to download, specify the folder, and create a bunch of additional buttons, etc. In general, I would have used it exactly, if it weren’t for the above-mentioned jamb and one small misunderstanding. Now about the misunderstanding - the limitation of uploaded files works somehow strangely. Typically, in other download managers, files simply queue up and wait their turn. And in this plugin, when adding a new download, if the limit on the number of downloaded files is enabled, then the earlier files are stupidly deleted without downloading. This is somehow strange and wrong, and why the hell is it necessary? Although..., of course, everyone has their own markers...

For the Mozilla Firefox browser, it is possible to replace the standard built-in file downloader with a more improved one, comparable in functionality to full-fledged desktop file downloaders. Free extension DownThemAll! is an advanced bootloader accelerator.

The extension is built into the browser and implements its own file download process and download management interface, separate from the one installed in the browser. DownThemAll! allows you to cancel, pause and restart downloads without worrying about data loss. Users can assign priority speed to individual downloads, freely move downloads through the manager’s list, and download web page content in one click.

In the extension DownThemAll! the possibility of segmented file downloading has been implemented, which means that files are downloaded in parts, and thus the speed of their downloading from slow web servers on the Internet increases.

About all the features of working with the DownThemAll! in the Mozilla Firefox browser, we’ll talk in more detail below.

DownThemAll extension! - advanced file downloader for Mozilla Firefox browser

How to install extensions (add-ons, add-ons) in browsers, in particular Mozilla Firefox, .

Downloader buttons DownThemAll!

Downloader DownThemAll! embeds its commands in the browser context menu.

More extension buttons can be seen in the Mozilla Firefox quick access menu. But first, these buttons need to be added to the menu. In the quick access menu, click “Edit”.

Drag and drop 4 buttons DownThemAll! from the list of additional functions on the left, then click “Exit settings”.

That's it - now in the browser's quick access menu there is a call to the download manager DownThemAll! and its individual download functions.

Download process

When you click on the link to download the file, a standard download selection menu will appear in the Mozilla Firefox window. Here you need to select the “DownThemAll!” item. And so that in the future the browser switches directly to the extension loader without unnecessary fuss, you can check the box next to the “Run automatically for all files of this type” option.

After this, a dialog box of the downloader itself will appear: DownThemAll! with a choice of download options. Here you can assign a folder to save the downloaded file, make a note in the description column, and select a file renaming mask. You can start downloading immediately by clicking the “Start” button. Or you can use the “Add to Queue” button to send the download, respectively, to the queue. Thus, the added files can be downloaded later, managing downloads from the DownThemAll! manager.

Another download option that also appears immediately in the standard Mozilla Firefox download selection menu is “dTaOneClick!” - this is the ability to download a file in one click.

This extension option remembers the previous download settings and will download the file in exactly the same way as the previous time - in the same folder, with the same rename mask, in the same way with an instant download start or by adding to the queue.

Rename mask

This download settings option, such as the rename mask, is useful when downloading a large number of files from different web resources or with names consisting of meaningless combinations of characters. Before downloading, you can choose to automatically rename files by adding additional data according to a particular template to the existing file names. For example, you can attach the web address of the resource where they were downloaded from, download time, ascending numbering, free text, etc. to file names.

Download Manager

Download Manager DownThemAll! automatically appears on the screen after starting to download files. It can also be launched at any time with the “dTa Manager!” button. from the browser's quick access menu.

Downloads can be paused, started again, deleted along with the files on the disk, without having to look for the downloaded content among the junk in the downloads folder. You can launch downloaded multimedia files directly from the download manager window. For current downloads, you can set one or another download speed, manually setting a higher value for priority files and depriving the speed of files that are not urgently needed and can take longer to download.

More information can be seen by selecting the “Download Information” option in the context menu of the download of interest. In the settings tab, the initially set download parameters will be visible.

Downloading web page content

You can download in one fell swoop the data posted on a web page - HTML, PHP, video, photo, audio and other files that a particular site is “rich in” by calling the “DownThemAll!” button. A download options window will open, where, among other settings, you can set filters and select all or only individual links.

You can also set filters and select only web page attachments for downloading - video, audio, images, pdf files, etc.

The "dTa OneClick..." button does exactly the same thing as "DownThemAll!", with the only difference being that all elements on the web page where the button is called will be downloaded instantly, in one click, using the last used download options (folder saving files, renaming mask, selected filters, starting download or adding to queue, etc.).

Adding all links on a web page to your downloads

Another “dTa OneClick!” button, but with a purple arrow, is a select button that allows you to add selected links on a web page to the downloader queue with one click. To do this, you need to enable this button in the Mozilla Firefox menu.

After turning on the button, move the cursor over the links and click when the block lights up. That's all you need to add the link to the downloader queue. By sending all the links on a web page to the queue, the select button "dTa OneClick!" disable it, because it works until it is turned off manually. What remains to be done after actively adding links is to review the loader list and start the process of downloading files.

As you can see, the selection button “dTa OneClick!” - the tool is fast, convenient, useful, but, alas, only in rare cases, for example, when downloading a large number of individual files - music tracks, pictures, documents, archives, parts of a large video file, etc., which are located in one layout on file storage. In such cases, the selection button “dTa OneClick!” will greatly simplify the downloading procedure. But with a few downloads, such a tool is useless, since more body movements will be spent on turning the button on and off than on starting the download of one link.

Extension settings

Go to the DownThemAll extension settings! You can do it from the download manager window.

In the settings you can set the number of simultaneous downloads, options for overwriting files, deleting completed and failed downloads, rollback to default settings, and also configure other things.

About the completion of downloads of the DownThemAll downloader! notifies you with a sound notification. With large download volumes, this can get on your nerves. The sound can be turned off in the extension settings, in the first tab.

To sum it up...

Download manager interface DownThemAll! Russified and friendly to ordinary users. However, the individual functionality of the extension is very specific, and, as we see, is intended more for people who are professionally engaged in online activities. Perhaps because DownThemAll! does not know how to download video and audio from video hosting sites and social networks. For these purposes, you still have to install a separate extension in the browser that can do this.

Each of us, when visiting certain websites containing videos, thought that it would be nice to save this or that video to our computer. But, unfortunately, not every Internet resource provides such an opportunity. At the moment, there are a huge number of various add-ons for the Mozilla web browser. In this article we will look at one of the most convenient and popular applications among visitors to the World Wide Web.

Firefox add-on for downloading videos

Flash Video Downloader

Flash Video Downloader is one of the most functional plugins for downloading videos. It allows you to download videos from almost all websites on the Internet. It is worth noting the convenient interface of this extension, as well as the ability to select the resolution for videos and stable operation.

First you need to download and install this utility. To do this, launch the Mozilla Internet browser. Open the browser menu and select “Add-ons”.

Then in the search line we write the name of the extension “Flash Video Downloader”, without quotes. Click on the magnifying glass icon located to the right of the search window. Select the plugin you are looking for, and to the right of it click on the “Install” button.

After all the above actions, an icon depicting an arrow with a horizontal line below it will appear at the top right next to the menu icon. Something similar is not the "File Uploads" icon.

When a web page has videos that can be downloaded, the video download icon will turn blue.

If you click on this arrow, a window will appear in which you can select the required video recording and edit the image quality. Select the appropriate video and click the “Download” button to the right of it.

Next in this window you will see the number of megabytes downloaded and the download percentage. The toolbar will also indicate the time after which the file will be downloaded to the user’s personal computer.

All downloaded files are saved by default to the “Downloads” folder on your computer. If you don’t know where this folder is, then in the browser on the toolbar there is a button with an arrow, click on it, and to the right of the downloaded file there will be an icon similar to a folder, click on it and you will be taken to the folder with all previously downloaded files.

In such an easy way, this extension for Mozilla for downloading videos will allow you to download your favorite videos to your personal computer in just one click.
