Story

The historical basis for the formation of the Automobile and Highway Institute was the position of the motor transport complex of the city of Penza and the region, as well as the middle Volga region as a whole. From the huge list of problems facing the motor transport complex in the perestroika and post-perestroika periods, the problem of insufficient staffing of motor transport enterprises, transport inspection structures, traffic police and administrative bodies stood out. There were clearly not enough graduates from the Moscow Automobile and Highway Institute (MADI), Nizhny Novgorod and Saratov Polytechnic Institutes to staff the Volga region with specialists, especially in regional management structures. For every ten managers and specialists in the motor transport complex, there was approximately one person with a special education. In addition, during the same period, a significant decrease in demand for construction specialists began, so many educational institutions that trained construction specialists had to change their training profile. This problem also arose before the Penza Civil Engineering Institute (ICI).

In order to solve the problem of training specialists in the motor transport complex for the Volga region on the basis of a structural unit of the Faculty of Technology of the Penza ISI - the Department of Mechanization and Automation of Construction Production (MiASP), which had extensive experience in training specialists of the construction complex in the operation of small-scale mechanization equipment, lifting devices and a number of other technical devices , based on wheeled or tracked chassis, it was decided to open a specialty 150200 "Automobiles and Automotive Industry". The Department of MiASP had a developed educational and material base and highly qualified teaching staff. The initiator of the opening of the specialty 150200 “Automobiles and Automotive Industry” was the head of the Department of MiASP, Ph.D. Domke Eduard Reingoldovich.

The idea of creating an automotive department on the basis of the department has been brewing for several years. Consultations were held with the leadership of the university, specialists from MADI, which is the leading university for training specialists in the country's motor transport complex, as well as the leadership of the Ministry of Road Transport.

In 1995, the scientific Council of the institute decided to open a graduate department “Automobiles and automotive industry” on the basis of the MiASP department. The official date of creation of the Automotive Faculty is July 1, 1997. Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor E.R. Domke was appointed the first dean of the faculty. He was also elected the first head of the Department of Automobiles and Automotive Industry.

In 1996, the faculty was allocated its own space for the dean’s office, classrooms and laboratories of the Department of AAU in the left wing of the first floor and on the second floor of the hostel on the street. Belyaeva, 16. The automotive faculty included the departments of "Cars and Automotive Industry", MiASP, and the department of physical education. Candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Anatoly Ivanovich Proskurin was appointed first deputy dean of the automotive faculty, and Alexandra Vasilievna Kushnareva was appointed methodologist of the dean's office. In 1996, in agreement with the Department of Internal Affairs of the Penza Region, the department of the Russian Transport Inspectorate, specialty 240400 “Road Traffic Management” was opened at the faculty.

In 1997, the first recruitment for this specialty was carried out. Active assistance in the formation of the automotive faculty was provided by the leadership of the academy: rector professor Eremkin A.I., vice-rectors Proshin A.P., Skachkov Yu.P. and other officials of the academy. The heads of transport enterprises in Penza and the region, the regional road department, the Penza branch of the Russian Transport Inspectorate, and the Penza traffic police provided all possible assistance in the formation of the automotive faculty. In September 1998, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor V.V. Vinogradov was appointed to the position of Deputy Dean of the Academy of Sciences, and in October 1999 - Candidate of Technical Sciences, senior lecturer of the department. AAH Grabovsky A.A.

Since 1999, the faculty has been a collective member of the International Association for Automotive and Road Education (IAADO). In 2000, the faculty opened a third specialty - 230100 "Operation and maintenance of transport and technological machines and equipment (motor transport)."

In 2001, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Yu.V. Rodionov was appointed Deputy Dean of the Faculty. In September 2001, specialty 291000 “Highways and Airfields” was transferred to the faculty from the Civil Engineering Institute along with the graduating department “Highways”. In the same year, a separate graduating department “Organization and Traffic Safety” was created on the basis of the Department of AAU.

In October 2001, the Automotive Faculty was transformed into an Automobile and Highway Institute. Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor E.R. Domke was elected director of the institute. Candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Yu.V. Rodionov were appointed deputy directors of the institute. and Ph.D., senior lecturer Lyandenbursky V.V.

In October 2008, Rodionov Yu.V., Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, was appointed director of the Automobile and Highway Institute. Candidate of technical sciences, associate professor A.M. were appointed deputy directors of the institute. Belokovylsky, Ph.D., Associate Professor Ilyina I.E.
