Maria Khodareva 21:25 05/23/2019

This year I’m graduating from ISI, I must say, I’m finishing with regret: I’ve never seen such a family atmosphere as here anywhere else! the best educational institution, although not free, but high-quality, professional, authoritative!

For everyone who chooses creative professions, I recommend ISI, especially the department of sound engineering: theory, practice, and so much everything you need, Maria Aleksandrovna Soboleva is the best!

About ISI

The Institute of Contemporary Art was created in 1992, and in 2012 celebrated 20 years of its existence. The teaching staff tries to find an individual approach to each of its students and provide each of them with an in-depth humanitarian education, which will become the foundation for any creative activity.

ISI students and graduates

The Institute of Contemporary Art is still very young compared to most state universities, but this is rather its advantage, allowing it to grow and develop at a rapid pace, keeping up with all the changes that are taking place in the world of art. Over the years of work, the institute has already developed its own traditions; various competitions, festivals, and holidays are constantly held, where university students can show all their creative abilities.

Over the years of its activity, ISI has graduated more than 2,000 certified specialists in the field of culture and art. Among them there are many film and television directors, pop, jazz and academic performers, choreographers, television and radio journalists, instrumental performers, as well as producers and cultural managers.

In recent years, ISI students and graduates have visited almost all film sets in Moscow. They participated in:

  • music TV shows “Factor A”, “Voice of the Country”, “People’s Artist”, “One to One”;
  • filming various films and TV series;
  • professional exhibitions;
  • concert and theatrical performances on Tverskaya, Red Square, Poklonnaya Hill;
  • youth forums in Madrid, Paris, Berlin, Rome.

Institute structure

ISI faculties are located in two buildings located in the Western Administrative District of Moscow. The Faculty of Design is located in a two-story building where famous Peredvizhniki artists used to work - on Zagorodskogo Proezd, 23. All other faculties of ISI (acting, pop-jazz singing, academic performance, instrumental performance, musical sound engineering, film and television directing, choreography, journalism , directing theatrical performances and celebrations, as well as cultural management) are located in the building of the Gorbunov Palace of Culture on the street. Novozavodskaya, 27a.

The Institute employs:

  • an educational theater with two stages for performances, as well as a dressing room and costume room, where students prepare for their concerts and performances;
  • a recording and scoring studio where student vocalists can record their songs on disc with the help of future sound engineers;
  • a computer audiovisual effects and video editing studio where students can edit an educational film, broadcast or recorded performance and concert;
  • ISI television, on which students try themselves as presenters, actors, actresses and television journalists;
  • a press center where guys can start their journalistic activities;
  • a physical education and health center, where students engage in sports and physical education in various clubs and sections;
  • a buffet and cafe where students can refresh themselves between classes;
  • an electronic library with a huge circulation of a wide variety of literature.

Classes at the institute for future musicians are held in vocal and instrumental classrooms equipped with the latest technology and progress, future dancers and choreographers learn the art of dance in spacious choreographic halls, artists and designers master their skills in bright art workshops. Also at ISI there are several computer classes with Internet access.

ISI teaching staff

In addition, the institute constantly conducts various master classes with the participation of famous directors, performers, and actors. In 2012-2013, interesting meetings of students took place with directors Zvyagintsev and Ursulyak, actors Leontyev and Garmash, with the French actress and director Karine Vineron, as well as the teacher of the “One to One” competition M. Polteva.

ISI tries to maintain international relations with the University of Italy “La Sapienze” and the University of France “Sorbonne”. Thanks to such connections between teachers of these universities, there is a constant exchange of experience and various scientific researches are carried out, which help to constantly improve the educational process at the university. In addition, agreements were signed on student exchanges between ISI and the Vilnius Academy of Arts, as well as the universities of Dortmund and Düsseldorf, thanks to which ISI students learn about innovations in foreign art and apply the acquired knowledge in their practice.
