Chelyabinsk State University is a multidisciplinary university that trains highly qualified personnel. ChelSU is a member of the Association of Classical Universities of Russia, the Eurasian Association of Universities, and the International Association of Universities under UNESCO.

ChelSU is one of the leading educational and research centers in the Southern Urals. Here scientific projects and educational initiatives are born, discoveries are made and the knowledge of several generations is stored.

The fundamental principle of scientific activity of ChelSU is a focus on the development of fundamental research in physics, mathematics, natural sciences and social sciences. No less important is their consistency with applied research and, of course, the support of scientific schools. This confirms the fact of the successful development of more than thirty scientific areas at the university.

CSU cooperates with leading scientific centers, foundations and organizations in Russia and abroad. University scientists receive prestigious grants, indicating a high level of scientific research. Every year, high-status scientific and practical conferences are held on the basis of ChelSU or with its participation.

The university has been operating an inclusive education system for more than 20 years, which allows people with disabilities and people with disabilities to successfully study.

In addition, the regional educational and scientific center for inclusive education has created an adaptive system of pre-university training - using specialized equipment, adaptive information and communication technologies. The barrier-free architectural environment created at the university allows students to move freely around the academic building and the surrounding area.

It is CSU that holds the status of the first university in the Southern Urals. The resolution on its creation was adopted by the Council of Ministers of the USSR in 1974. The official opening took place two years later - in October 1976. The first rector was a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor S. E. Matushkin.

The new university offered training in two faculties - physics and mathematics and history and philology. Thanks to the efforts of the leadership, over three years the university was equipped with electronic computer technology better than any other educational institution in the region. A team of young, innovative teachers and experienced scientists aimed at promising fundamental research has been formed. S. E. Matushkin organized and headed the dissertation council on pedagogical sciences, one of the strongest in the Ural-Siberian region. Gradually, ChelSU became a significant center of science and education: the number of faculties increased, dozens of departments were formed, where doctors and candidates of science worked. Postgraduate studies have opened in four areas.

The great merit of ChelSU is the formation of its own archaeological school in the Chelyabinsk region. It all started in 1977, when the first field season took place under the leadership of G.B. Zdanovich. And in 1987, one of the teams of the university expedition discovered a fortified settlement of the Middle Bronze Age at the turn of the 3rd-2nd millennium BC. e. - Arkaim. In July 2015, ChelSU archaeologists distinguished themselves again: a Bronze Age settlement was found in the Sosnovsky district of the Chelyabinsk region, which became a real event in archaeology.

Today Chelyabinsk State University is a multidisciplinary university that provides high-quality training. ChelSU is a member of the Association of Classical Universities of Russia, the Eurasian Association of Universities, and the International Association of Universities under UNESCO. Our university has become a federal innovation platform for inclusive education in the higher education system.

The fundamental principle of scientific activity here has been and remains a focus on the development of fundamental research in physics, mathematics, natural sciences and social sciences. No less important is their consistency with applied research and, of course, the support of scientific schools. This confirms the fact of the successful development of more than thirty scientific areas on the basis of ChelSU.

Research and innovation activities are supported by cooperation with leading scientific centers, foundations and organizations in Russia and abroad. In 2014-2015 The amount of funding for scientific activities increased significantly, almost doubled, and university scientists received prestigious grants, indicating a high level of scientific research. Increasingly, high-status scientific and practical conferences are being held on the basis of ChelSU or with its participation.

In 2016, the year of the 40th anniversary of ChelSU, the book of university scientists “Chelyabinsk Superbolide” was published, the “Russian Ski Track” returned to the university territory, the regional forum “Student Self-Government 2.0” was held, and the Professor’s Alley was founded in our botanical garden.

From the very beginning of its history, CSU has been fulfilling a special task of higher education - preparing highly qualified personnel for universities and research centers in the region.

One of the main slogans of Chelyabinsk State University, “A source of movement for all times,” is exactly what our close-knit team strives for. We will move forward and only forward for the benefit of society, raising worthy generations.
