For the first time, information is reported on the results of tests of various types of detectors and gamma spectrometry channel equipment under external radiation conditions characteristic of the pyrochemical reprocessing procedure of spent mixed nitride uranium-plutonium (MNUP) fuel. The detectors tested were a semiconductor detector with a CdZnTe crystal; scintillation detector with LaBr 3 crystal; ionization chamber based on compressed xenon.

Sintering of nuclear fuel pellets in high-temperature furnaces is carried out in an atmosphere with strictly defined requirements for the composition of gaseous media in different temperature zones of the furnace. The implementation of a given technological regime in a sintering furnace for mixed nitride uranium-plutonium (MNUP) fuel pellets is ensured by the gas supply circuit, the design of barriers between temperature zones, as well as gas supply and exhaust units. To check the performance of the incorporated technical solutions when developing a channel for a SNUP fuel sintering furnace, a computational CFD model was created in the Ansys Fluent package and validated.

The results of experiments on studying the accumulation of hydrogen and gaseous fission products (GFP) under conditions simulating the temporary storage of destroyed VVER-440 spent fuel in sealed canisters after draining the water without fuel drying are presented. Coinciding kinetics of hydrogen accumulation and GPD were obtained for wet SNF in a sealed canister. The kinetics showed a sharp change in the decrease in the rate of hydrogen accumulation and GPD 46 hours after the start of the experiments.

The safe operation of NPP power units with VVER-1000 reactors is largely determined by the geometric stability of the fuel assembly design (the magnitude and shape of the deflection, twist angle, length, transverse size, warping of spacer grids) throughout their entire service life. The reliability of the operation of the reactor control and protection system (RCS), as well as the safety of transport and technological operations with fuel assemblies during nuclear fuel reloading during scheduled preventive maintenance of a power unit, depend on changes in the geometric parameters of the fuel assembly.

According to the technical decisions taken during the design of the first stage of the Beloyarsk NPP, spent fuel pools (SP) were intended for temporary storage of spent fuel assemblies in seventeen-place cassettes made of carbon steel of the K-17u type. The holding time of spent fuel assemblies was determined by the need to reduce heat generation and activity of radioactive substances, and should have been three years. However, the cassettes with spent fuel assemblies remain in storage...

Alloy E125 is widely used in nuclear power. Its most well-known applications include process channels and control rods of the RBMK reactor and covers for fuel assemblies of VVER reactors. Considering such a significant use of the alloy, data on its properties under emergency overheating conditions is clearly insufficient. Specialists from Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, State Scientific Center RIAR OJSC and NPF LLC...
