When you come to work at the “kindergarten”, you find yourself in a very pleasant and soft atmosphere:

  • every parent instructs their child: to be obedient and love the teacher;
  • children “love” with kisses and hugs. Therefore, every morning the teacher begins with kisses and hugs, as well as sweets donated by the children. For some reason, each child brings the teacher one piece of candy in his pocket as an indicator of friendship.
  • In the “kindergarten” children eat, play and sleep, and parents are happy when they come to pick up their child and see how their children do all this. Therefore, the teacher receives only respect and gratitude.

The sincere love of children is a pleasant bonus of working as a teacher in a kindergarten.

By the way, the job responsibilities of a kindergarten teacher do not include cleaning and washing floors, taking out pots, doing laundry, changing children’s soiled clothes, hanging damaged sheets outside, or washing dishes. This is all a nanny's job. The teacher must only keep the children occupied, monitor compliance with the daily routine and conduct classes with the kids, of course, in a playful way.

In contrast to the huge amount of knowledge required by a school teacher, a kindergarten teacher only needs to know the Maria Montessori method. And this is just one thick book. It is quite enough to competently perform all the duties of a teacher for many years.

For myself, I can say one thing for sure: I am absolutely sure that I know what to do with a child up to seven years old, and how to raise him correctly. And this, believe me, is a very strong argument in favor of the profession of a kindergarten teacher.

And cons

The disadvantage of the profession is accidental injuries to children. A child may fall from the horizontal bar, scratch another child, or not share a toy with him. What happens next depends on the parents and their attitude to what happened.

One parent will calmly pick up a child with a bump or bruise, making sure that the injury was caused by a collision with a plastic bucket. Another would throw a tantrum in kindergarten and then run to complain to the city department of education.

Another disadvantage of the profession is that after a few years, the child will not recognize you on the street, and you will not be able to remember him. So, you can’t count on long tea parties with graduates years later.

Teacher of higher education institution

Frankly, a university teacher is a “celestial being,” both in the literal and figurative sense. Any university adheres to the following rules:

  • If a student is not ready for a lesson, this is the student’s problem;
  • If a student does not understand the material of the lecture and practical lesson, why should he study at this university at all;
  • If a student sorted things out with the teacher, wrote complaints about him, did not regularly prepare for classes, the teacher simply will not give him a grade, and without this grade the student will easily be expelled from the university;
  • The teacher can always contact his colleagues to ask them not to evaluate the “problem” student. And vice versa, evaluate it better or worse - as necessary. Moreover, this unspoken rule is observed by absolutely all teachers of this university. After all, if one teacher is offended today, tomorrow they will probably offend another.

In my practice, I have also encountered students expelled from the university after a conflict with a teacher. There were also those who, due to the “revenge” of teachers, had to transfer to the correspondence department, simply in order to receive a diploma of higher education.

The teacher is always right!

The advantages of being a university teacher include:

  • High salary;
  • Formal communication style and widespread respect;
  • Adult communication - you must agree, this is much more pleasant than finding out, as in a secondary school, why students broke the window with a ball. This simply doesn’t happen at a university.
  • A small amount of preparation for lessons. For reference: a school teacher spends all evenings after work writing notes. It's long and unnecessary. But if a teacher comes to class without notes, he is subject to immediate dismissal, and no court will acquit him.

As for the university, notes are not required at all. All teachers write teaching aids for the next academic year throughout the year. Then the department approves them and sends them to the printing house for replication.

Therefore, all teachers and students have similar books - notes on practical classes. And the teacher only writes lecture notes.

But, if you consider that only one note is needed for one week, the teacher will not overwork. After all, a university is characterized by a flow of students: all groups, in one week, study the same topic.

Disadvantages of the profession:

  • The university administration still analyzes and takes into account students’ complaints against teachers;
  • it is possible to check “for bribes” - whether the teacher takes them. And this is unpleasant.

A few words about salaries - which teachers are paid more?

In any case, my opinion is this: it is better for a teacher to work in his specialty where he can get a job. The only negative is advanced training:

  • Professor can increase his own salary only by length of service or defense of a scientific dissertation;
  • School teacher can also upgrade the category, but only if he has completed higher education and works in the profession indicated in the diploma;
  • A kindergarten teacher can upgrade the category only if he has a diploma from a university, which indicates the profession: “preschool education”.

As for salaries, the largest monetary remuneration is paid in universities in our country. But kindergarten and school teachers are paid approximately the same. Although we should not forget about length of service, which significantly increases the salary of a school or kindergarten teacher.
