Refinement of controls for the cultivator Luch MB 1. Walk-behind tractors "Luch": characteristics and operating features

This article is dedicated to the reliable “assistant” of every summer resident. We are talking about the Luch MB 1 walk-behind tractor. This model is intended for small plots of land, your own vegetable gardens, as well as for garden care. In addition, the walk-behind tractor can be used for work in suburban areas and swampy areas. Despite the fact that the walk-behind tractor is produced in Russia, the model is not particularly popular. The manufacturer recommends cultivating light soils.

The main distinctive characteristics of Luch MB 1 are ease of operation and compact size. It is worth considering that the compact dimensions allow you to transport the walk-behind tractor. The versatility of the unit is achieved by compatibility with a large number of attachments. The main power unit consumes a small amount of fuel. This, in turn, will save money on fuel, which is a significant help in our time. Beam MB 1 can perform the following work:

  • plow the land;
  • harrow;
  • dig up root crops;
  • clear snow from the yard, garden, vegetable garden;
  • transport various cargoes;
  • water, spray plants.

To start working with a walk-behind tractor, you do not need a higher education. The unit is very easy to use. But, before starting the work process, you will still have to study the design and operating principle of the attachments. In case of any problems, the operator can always use the repair instructions for the Luch MB 1 walk-behind tractor.

Characteristics of the walk-behind tractor

The engine is the KADVI 168F-2A power unit, which was developed similar to the famous Japanese company Honda. The engine is 4-stroke, with one cylinder. The walk-behind tractor uses gasoline as fuel. Air cooling system. The principle of operation of the fuel system is based on the principle of operation of the carburetor of the Luch walk-behind tractor. The productive element is started by a manual starter. Engine power is 5 hp. Recommended fuel types: AI-76, AI-80, AI-92.

While the walk-behind tractor is operating, it is strictly forbidden (by the manufacturer) to refuel the gas tank or come into contact with the tip of the spark plug and the ignition wire. Main overall dimensions of Beam MB 1: length - 1500 mm; width - 600 mm; height - 1150 mm. The minimum turning radius is 1100 mm. In the working position, the unit grips 700-1150 mm, the grip depth is 360 mm. The gas tank is designed for 3.6 liters. In this case, fuel consumption is 1.5-2 liters. at one o'clock.

Detailed review of "LUCH"

When purchased, the factory equipment includes pneumatic wheels, rototillers and extension cords. Beam MB 1 has several modifications. The models differ from each other in the installed power plant. Thus, the manufacturer installs Japanese Subaru engines. In addition, there are models with engines from such brands as Lifan, Vanguard, Lian-Long. Without a doubt, the most models were produced with the domestically produced KADVI 168F-2A engine. During its development, Honda technologies were not absent.

The model is very reliable, serious breakdowns are quite rare. Due to the fast and confident operation of the walk-behind tractor, the operator is able to cultivate the land productively. Which in turn will have a positive impact on the harvest and profit. Resistance to low temperatures allows you to operate the walk-behind tractor in winter.

Let's get back to the renovation. Problems with the engine and walk-behind tractor in general occur very rarely. The main “trouble” can be caused by insufficient oil level in the engine. As a result, the well-known knock occurs. Therefore, you need to constantly monitor the oil level! Let us list the main advantages of the model:

  1. Simple and easy control system. The operator does not need to exert much physical effort to cultivate the garden.
  2. High productivity, which in turn has a positive effect on operation as a whole.
  3. The chain reducer ensures smooth operation of the unit.
  4. Compact dimensions make it possible to transport the walk-behind tractor.
  5. Special wings installed at the bottom serve as a protective barrier against dust and dirt. These protective elements of the housing significantly extend the service life of the engine.
  6. A functional gearbox allows you to select the required speed mode (2 forward and 2 reverse gears).

Pneumatic wheels have tenacious contact with the ground, slipping is not possible.

With the onset of spring, more and more gardeners and vegetable gardeners are heading to their plots. Cultivating the land is quite a difficult task. Even owners of a small piece of land know how tedious it is to dig it up and prepare it for sowing seeds. The Russian-made Luch walk-behind tractor, produced in Perm, has shown itself to be good at helping gardeners.

It can be used not only on light soil, but also on an area located in a swampy area. Working with the unit is quite easy, and, as a rule, no one has any difficulties with it. In order to appreciate all the advantages of the Luch MB walk-behind tractor, it is worth getting to know it better.

Walk-behind tractor functionality

A guarantee of the popularity and demand of a walk-behind tractor among gardeners is its versatility. This unit precisely meets such an important requirement. Using the Luch walk-behind tractor, or a similar Cascade model, you can significantly simplify and speed up various garden work, which, when done manually, takes from 8 to 11 hours a day. With the use of small-scale mechanization technology, its owner has time for additional rest.

Equipped with all the necessary attachments, the Luch 1 walk-behind tractor is capable of doing a lot:

  • . plow;
  • . loosen;
  • . harrow;
  • . spud;
  • . dig root crops;
  • . mow;
  • . cut furrows;
  • . spray;
  • . transport goods;
  • . water;
  • . remove snow.

To work with the Luch walk-behind tractor, as well as with the Cascade and Oka, no special knowledge or skills are required, due to which absolutely any gardener can use it without fear of failure.

When purchasing attachments for a walk-behind tractor under the Luch brand, you should carefully study the instructions to be sure that the unit and equipment are compatible. When purchasing this machine, cultivators for loosening the soil, extensions and special wheels are included. The rest of the attachments will need to be purchased separately.

It is unacceptable to save on it, since only high-quality and reliable equipment can make the hard work of cultivating land on a personal plot as easy as possible. For those who do not plan to cultivate large areas, the Luch brand walk-behind tractor is an ideal solution, as it is distinguished by its versatility, affordable price and amazing reliability.

Technical features

The technical characteristics of the Luch walk-behind tractor are very important in the process of choosing a model of this type of small-scale mechanization equipment. Weighing only 100 kg, this assistant has quite a lot of power, due to which it can transport significant loads and quickly process a given area.

Having 2 forward and 2 reverse gears, the Luch walk-behind tractor is comfortable to use, it is very easy to operate and there is no need to make a lot of effort. Thanks to this, the operator saves not only his time, but also physical effort. The height-adjustable steering wheel allows operators of any height to use the walk-behind tractor with ease.

Pneumatic wheels with an aggressive tread pattern provide increased maneuverability of the Luch walk-behind tractor. The smooth, jerk-free movement of the walk-behind tractor occurs due to a chain gearbox with a wedge-shaped transmission. The speed of movement of the unit is quite high and can be up to 9 km/h.

The Luch MB 1 walk-behind tractor is undemanding when it comes to fuel and runs without problems on all brands of gasoline: AI-76, AI-80, AI-92. Thus, the owner can choose the best option for himself depending on his financial capabilities and fuel availability. This walk-behind tractor does not have the most economical gasoline consumption and consumes up to 2 liters per hour (with a fuel tank volume of 3,600 liters). Because of this, during long-term work you will have to take fairly frequent breaks to refuel.

Depending on the brand of the unit, the engine of a walk-behind tractor under the Luch brand can be either imported or domestic, but it must be particularly reliable. The weight of the machine may vary slightly depending on what brand of engine is installed.

The main operating characteristics of the Luch walk-behind tractor include an adjustable strip width for simultaneous cultivation from 73 cm to 1.20 m and a plowing depth of 30 cm. The dimensions of the unit are not very large and are 1.5 m in length, 60 cm in width and 1.15 m in height.

Owners' opinions

Owners of this model speak flatteringly about it. Used in accordance with the instructions, the Luch MB 1 walk-behind tractor copes well with the tasks assigned to it. Many people note that even if they buy a used device, its performance is pleasantly pleasing, since even a unit with quite a long operating history has practically no breakdowns.

The beam easily copes with difficult soils, as well as areas near trees, which not every small-scale mechanization unit can do. Such amazing performance is achieved due to the special strength and maneuverability of the device.

The ability to use this walk-behind tractor not only in the warm season, but also in winter for snow removal, is very important for residents of rural areas in the northern regions, where heavy snowfalls and blizzards are not uncommon. For them, this equipment becomes necessary throughout the year, as it fully replaces many narrow-profile devices.

Repairing a Luch walk-behind tractor is, one might say, an exceptional matter, and only a few encounter it. Thanks to its special reliability, this machine is not prone to breakdowns, even with extensive work experience.

By acquiring such a walk-behind tractor, you can not only optimize your work, but also partially free yourself up for a pleasant holiday in your garden. Only in this case, time spent in nature will bring maximum benefits, both for the garden and for the health of its owner.

Walk-behind tractors have long become quite commonplace for many rural farmers, working in their garden. They begin in the spring, when many summer residents head to their country estates to “reanimate” their plots after a long winter.

It is extremely difficult to do this manually, which is why many resort to using such units.

The domestically produced Luch walk-behind tractor is perfectly suited for these purposes.

The simplicity of the design makes it much easier to operate the unit, as well as carry out maintenance and repairs.

At the same time, its performance characteristics are quite sufficient for carrying out the main range of agricultural work.

About the manufacturer

Motoblock Luch was produced at the enterprise OJSC "Perm Motors", which was repurposed in the late 90s. Now, this plant is included in the united enterprise “Perm Motor-Building Complex”, which includes many specialized companies. Here are just a few of these companies:

  • Aviadvigatel OJSC is engaged in the development of aircraft engines.
  • OJSC Perm Motor Plant produces engines based on design data from the Aviadvigatel plant.
  • CJSC "Kaskad-PM" is a plant specializing in the production of walk-behind tractors and related equipment.

As we can see, the activities of the merged enterprise are very different. By the way, the Luch and Cascade walk-behind tractors are actually produced at the same plant, which makes them, in a sense, related.

Currently, the general management of the Perm motor-building complex is carried out by the company "United Engine Corporation" as well as JSC Russian Helicopters.

For more information about the United Engine Corporation, watch the video:

Technical characteristics and prices of models

As for the model range of Luch walk-behind tractors, it is relatively small. For a more detailed understanding, let's look at specific models and their technical data.

MB1

Motoblock Luch designed for use on small plots of land, as well as in swampy areas. It is distinguished by fairly simple handling and economical fuel consumption. At the same time, you do not need to have special skills to be ready to work with this unit.

In order to improve performance, the manufacturer of the Luch walk-behind tractor adds certain changes to the configuration of Luch MB 1. First of all, we are talking about the use of engines from various companies - Lifan, KaDvi, Subaru, etc.

The most widespread among them is the KaDvi 168F-2A engine, manufactured using Honda Corporation technologies.

This engine of the Luch MB 1 walk-behind tractor (as well as is distinguished by its small overall dimensions, as well as a noise suppression system. Engine characteristics:

  • power parameters – 5 hp;
  • volume – 0.316 l;
  • rotation – 3200 rpm;
  • cylinder diameter – 7.6 cm.

At the same time, this the motor is quite unpretentious, which allows the use of gasoline of a wide variety of brands - from A-76 to AI-92.

The Luch MB 1 walk-behind tractor has the following technical characteristics:

  • type of engine used - 4-stroke, gasoline;
  • cooling – air;
  • walk-behind tractor length – 1500 mm;
  • walk-behind tractor width – 600 mm;
  • walk-behind tractor height – 1150 mm;
  • start type – manual.

Motoblock MB 1 Luch , price whom reaches 27 thousand rubles, may be the optimal solution for many farmers with private farms, because its working capacity is quite enough to cultivate small plots of land.

MB 5040

Motoblock Luch MB5040 is a perfect copy of the MB 1 model, the only difference is that they have a slightly different shape of the gas tank. Otherwise, the technical characteristics of the MB 5040 Luch walk-behind tractor will be the same:

  • type of engine used - 4-stroke, gasoline;
  • cooling – air;
  • walk-behind tractor length – 1500 mm;
  • walk-behind tractor width – 600 mm;
  • walk-behind tractor height – 1150 mm;
  • the width of the processed strip is adjustable, from 725 to 1200 mm;
  • fuel tank volume – 3.6 l;
  • fuel consumption – up to 2 liters per hour of operation;
  • start type – manual.

Respectively, price will also be identical - within 27-28 thousand rubles.

Alterations

Motoblock Luch is quite an old technique, so all of its alterations are quite appropriate. In addition, it is now quite difficult to find a new unit, so all walk-behind tractors presented for open sale have already been in use for a certain time.

The MTZ-82 model tractor can be called the real pride of the post-Soviet industry. all its advantages and technical characteristics.

ZIL-130 is the most common Soviet-era truck manufactured. is a highly functional, fast and quite comfortable development for its time period.

Previously, the process of cultivating the land was really long and difficult, because the farmer's tools were not as effective as they are now. all about the different models of the PSK plow.

As for some improvements, we can highlight several examples of useful, in our opinion, alterations:

  • The first thing you can try Replace - this is the front drive belt tensioner roller. The fact is that the standard roller is quite noisy during operation, especially after long-term use.
  • The reason for this is that the bearing grease has dried out, and it is not possible to replace it with a new one, because its sides are flared.
  • As a replacement, you can use a pulley from the timing belt of a VAZ 2112 car (or similar). On both sides of the roller there are two springs - one is the main one, leading to the control lever, and the second pulls the roller back.
  • Also Can you weld a new muffler?. What we have left from the old one is a cast iron elbow, which is quite problematic to weld anything onto. This problem can be solved by simply turning to lathes, who will turn out a thread into which a steel corner can be welded.
  • The muffler can was taken from the PD 10 engine, which is located at the very end of its exhaust pipe. The same corner that was used at the base of the homemade muffler is welded to the top of the can.
  • The engine breather also requires certain changes. The fact is that the standard breather runs in one straight line, connecting to the air cleaner with a fairly short hose.
  • During operation, it was discovered that the oil mixture enters this hose, which leads to further movement of oil into the air cleaner and then into the carburetor. To get rid of these consequences, you can use a longer hose placing it in a loop.
  • Even if some amount of the oil mixture gets into this hose, it will not be able to pass further, but will return back to the engine.

These are fairly standard modifications that can be done independently at home.

We did not mention replacing the engine with another one, or how the ignition works, because this is a topic for a separate discussion.

In this article, we pay attention only for some minor improvements, allowing you to make working with the Luch walk-behind tractor more comfortable and efficient.

The new walk-behind tractor comes with a specific list of parts required for further operation. Due to the fact that the production of these walk-behind tractors has been discontinued, this opportunity has also disappeared.

Mostly, You can only purchase the Beam from your hands, or on Internet sites specializing in the sale of special equipment.

The Luch walk-behind tractor, spare parts for which can now be purchased on the Internet, was supplied with a coulter, a set of cutters, and instructions for working with it. In addition, this kit included certain consumables:

  • Washers and nuts.
  • Limiter.
  • Latch.
  • Bracket.
  • Kingpin.
  • Belts, etc.

Attachments

Motoblocks, Attachments

In this case, attachments for the Luch walk-behind tractor can significantly expand the potential list of jobs that it can handle.

In particular, thanks to such equipment, the Luch walk-behind tractor can perform several additional jobs:

  • transportation of cargo of various specifics;
  • snow removal;
  • cleaning sidewalks and paths from dirt and dust;
  • mowing grass for further hay harvesting;
  • drilling holes, etc.

Such a significant expansion of the scope of work would be impossible without the aggregation with the walk-behind tractor of the mounted and trailed equipment that is intended for this:

  • Woodworking attachment.
  • Snow blower SMB-1 – with a snow mass ejection of up to 8 meters.
  • Ripper.
  • Plow.

  • Trailed trolley - load capacity is about 350 kg.
  • Mower type KN-1.1 - with a processed strip width of 110 cm.
  • Drill (auger and loop) – digging depth up to 60 cm.

It is worth noting that all attachments sold separately from the walk-behind tractor. In other words, you will have to spend extra money to purchase them.

Conclusion

The Luch walk-behind tractor is not as widespread in our country as similar models from other domestic companies. However, many have preserved it since Soviet times, so these owners know about the fairly acceptable quality of work that this walk-behind tractor performs.

Of course, the Beam is not ideal in terms of its design, but with some adjustments and manipulations, you can achieve greater performance a unit that will be able to provide some competition to more expensive models.

Maintenance and operation

This document must be studied by the owners before starting work. The operating instructions help you understand the details of the Luch walk-behind tractor, the location of its spare parts and the rules for carrying out technical work.

In order for the device to work correctly, it must be maintained.

  1. The spark plug does not produce a spark (check its condition and connecting wires);
  2. The air damper opened slightly;
  3. The oil level has dropped below the minimum mark;
  4. Dirty or low-quality gasoline;
  5. Gasoline does not enter the carburetor (the entire fuel system should be checked).

Reasons that the engine does not operate stable, periodically stalls or produces low power:

  1. Gasoline in the tank is running out;
  2. Dirt has entered the air filter;
  3. A large amount of dust has entered the fuel tank;
  4. The piston rings have become unusable.

Reasons for excessive vibration from the Luch walk-behind tractor:

  1. Bolted connections have become loose;
  2. The attachment is not fully secured;
  3. The tension belt has become loose.

The weak point of the Luch walk-behind tractor is the belt drive. It often frays and fails.

Therefore, you should always have several spare belts on hand in case of breakdown. Before purchasing a belt, be sure to determine the correct size.

Video review

Below is a video review of the Luch walk-behind tractor:

Here is a video of how soil is cultivated using a Luch walk-behind tractor:

Since many Luch walk-behind tractors were produced back in Soviet times, many will find the video regarding its restoration useful:

Here's what their owners say about Luch walk-behind tractors:

Arkady:

“I got a walk-behind tractor from my father. Old, but still plowing. Now I have seen newer models, but for me this one is good. The plow pulls well, rotates the cutters without problems, and pulls the cart, but with difficulty.

Pros: Maintainability

Cons: After fifteen years of operation, it was probably completely rebuilt; only the frame remained from the original model. But for such a price and for so long, you shouldn’t expect anything else.”

Engine

As previously mentioned, Luch MB 1 can be equipped with various power plants. Thus, the range is represented by engines of famous brands. For example, among foreign models, let's pay attention to Subaru, Lian-Long, as well as the more affordable Vanguard and Lifan. And yet, the most common modification is considered to be the Luch MB 1 with the domestic KADVI 168F-2A engine, which uses foreign components from Honda. This power plant is the pride of Russian and Japanese engineers. The engine has an overhead cylinder arrangement and has fairly high acceleration capabilities, and at the same time the unit is very economical in terms of fuel consumption. Among the main advantages of the motor are its attractive design, light weight, powerful performance and minimal noise level.

The Russian-Japanese engine has a single-cylinder four-stroke design and, with a displacement of 0.3 liters, develops 3.7 horsepower. The cylinder diameter is 76 mm. The power plant supports fuel grades A-76, as well as A-80 and A-92.

The manufacturer draws attention to the safety rules that must be followed when operating a walk-behind tractor with this motor. In particular, owners of KADVI 168F-2A engines are prohibited from adding fuel while the engine is running. Also, do not touch the ignition wire and spark plug bracket.

The procedure for working with a walk-behind tractor

The procedure for operating and servicing the mechanism depends on the type of chassis used.

Vehicle on wheeled chassis

When working with the Luch MB-1 mechanism, the following procedure must be followed:

  • Set the gear shift lever to the middle (neutral) position.
  • The power unit is started.

The starting method depends on the modification of the walk-behind tractor.

  • At low gas, warm up the engine for 3–4 minutes.
  • Using the control levers, the required speed and direction of movement are activated.
  • To change gears, stop the walk-behind tractor, release the shift lever in the direction of travel and press the gear shift lever with a little force.
  • To stop the mechanism, move the engine control lever to the “Stop” position.

Attention! It is prohibited to simultaneously press the forward and reverse control levers. Failure to comply with this condition may lead to gearbox failure.

Apparatus with cultivator

Working with a cultivator involves adjusting its position depending on the category of cultivated land. To do this, the walk-behind tractor is installed parallel to the earth's surface. Adjust the limiter for the penetration of the cultivator cutters into the soil.

Regardless of the soil category, the depth of burial should not exceed 20 cm - on sandy soils and 10 cm - on clay soils and loams. When loosening the soil, the unit covers a strip of land up to 1200 mm wide.

The Luch MB-1 walk-behind tractor is a universal tool. The lightweight unit is an indispensable assistant when cultivating virgin and arable lands.

To deliver tools and materials to the work site, a trailed trolley is used. Snow removal in winter is carried out using additional attachments.
